Career coaching with Tara
In addition to working with Breathe, Tara runs Good Work Career Consulting, a niche consultancy founded on the principle of decent work and focusing on regional careers. She has expertise in graduate and entry level work, and a special interest in the environmental sector.
She spent the formative years of her career in the Australian Public Service human services sector where she first understood the impact that work has on purpose, wellbeing, and life, along with the complexities of working within legislation.
A year-long career break led Tara to undertake studies in career development, whilst also working in the
environmental sector. She was part of James Cook University’s Careers and Employability team for over a decade, where she deepened her knowledge of environmental and research careers, amongst many others. Tara continues to expand on her sector knowledge as a volunteer with Bush Heritage Australia by assisting the Seeding the Future program team.
In higher education, Tara developed applied knowledge of learning design and the benefits of in-person, online, and hybrid course delivery, having delivered many activity-based workshops successfully in all formats. She worked with courses including Science, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Education, Biomedical Science, Business and others to scaffold and tailor career development learning into curriculum to prepare students for work and managing their careers.
Tara holds a Graduate Diploma in Careers Education and Development with Distinction (RMIT) and is a
Registered Professional Career Development Practitioner (CICA) and accredited Strengths Profile coach
